It was midnight, at Haicheng's coastal square.
A bright moon reflected on the water, illuminating the square like daylight.
Lin Shuai, a young man with long hair, stumbled to the beach. The cool breeze blew past, dispelling much of his melancholy.
Just a few hours earlier, Gao Xueli, the school beauty, had announced at her university graduation farewell party that she was ending their relationship.
"What's the use of being handsome? Can it be spent as money? Is your money enough to support me? Can you find me a job..."
Gao Xueli's words kept echoing in his ears, leaving him feeling extremely down, which led to him drinking too much at the dinner.
"Girl, why are you at the beach after midnight?"
The patrolling security guard who arrived checked his watch. It was already the middle of the night, and the girl was clearly drunk and in a bad mood. Was she trying to jump into the sea?
Lin Shuai tossed his hair. "Get lost! What's that look? I'm a man, okay!"
Shh... I was scolded, but the person in front of me looked like a girl!
He was wearing sportswear and was quite tall, but under 180cm tall. His slender figure was common among Haicheng girls.
His skin was fair, especially with his long, flowing hair and delicate features, making it hard to tell if he was a man or a woman.
"You said you were a man, so you're a man? Show me your ID."
Lin Shuai was already drunk and annoyed. The security guard was still getting excited. He subconsciously tightened his belt and said angrily, "Help me, what are you talking about? Can I just show you my ID?"
Damn! It was really hard to tell what to do with a drunk guy. The security guard smiled bitterly and said, "Come on, do you have your ID?"
I couldn't just watch him jump into the sea. Gender was secondary. Seeing his ID would help me figure out where to send him.
"ID? So you want me to show you my ID? Haha, I was thinking too much!"
Lin Shuai slapped his forehead and pulled out his wallet, handing it over. "Here, find your way!"
The security guard took it and saw that he was indeed a man, though his wallet was a little flat!
Lin Shuai, nice name! He's a local, registered on the island across the sea.
The security guard felt relieved. Everyone on the island could swim, and instinctively, jumping into the sea wouldn't kill him.
"It's too late. Where are you staying? Go home!" the security guard said, reaching for his arm, ready to escort him away.
Lin Shuai swung his arm. "No need. I'm not drunk. I'm just bored. I came here to get some fresh air. Don't worry about me. I can walk on my own!"
He watched him walk a short distance before stumbling off into the woods...
The security guard shook his head helplessly. Never mind. It was the dead of night, so a drunkard shouldn't behave himself!
But less than a minute later, he saw a flash of fire in the woods, and then Lin Shuai fell to the ground.
He trembled as he went over to feel for breath. Seriously, he was in trouble. He'd died!
It wasn't long before the police, doctors, and the security guard's supervisor arrived! After a few attempts at resuscitation, the doctor said helplessly, "Still not breathing. Notify the family!"
After inspecting the scene, the police quickly determined that Lin Shuai had died from electrocution.
As luck would have it, the lawn lamp beneath his feet had just lost power...
An hour later, at Haicheng People's Hospital.
"Ah... There's a ghost..."
A shrill cry sent a chilling chill through the basement.
The morgue, covering thousands of square meters, was filled with the three or five people on duty, trembling with fear.
The morgue was already eerie enough, and the cry of "ghost" was sure to instill fear.
Soon, six security guards, having received the news from the ground, rushed down with electric batons.
"Where's the ghost?"
A man in his forties, shaking violently, uttered a shaky voice, "In... in Warehouse 4... Yes, Warehouse 4. There's a ghost in there..."
The security guards looked at him with disdain. How dare someone so timid and cowardly work in a morgue? With a bang, the door to Warehouse No. 4 flung open. The lights were dazzling, but the place was perfectly tidy. Not a single shadow, not even a human or ghost.
"Damn, that guy is just sick. What's wrong with him?"
Several people checked, but found nothing unusual. Just as they were about to leave, a security guard yelled, "Wait, everyone, be quiet!"
"Big guy, stop making noises, okay? This is the morgue. Scaring people will kill you!"
"Shut up! Who's messing with you? Listen carefully!"
Several people looked at each other, and upon closer inspection, they could tell something was really unusual here.
The sound of "bang... bang..." was faint but clear.
"Oh my god, there really is a ghost!" One of the smaller guys cried out in terror, his hair standing on end. The large security guard nearby kicked him, "Shut up! What the hell? Go find out where the noise is coming from!"
The security guards' legs weakened, but they mustered their courage and began searching with electric batons in hand.
A few minutes later, they gathered around Lin Shuai's body.
Now, they could clearly hear the noise coming from beneath the white shroud before them.
Seeing his comrades' near-frightened expressions, the large security guard pushed aside the two men blocking his way and stepped forward to lift the shroud...
"Ah..." The security guards screamed and retreated...
The protagonist, Lin Shuai, was so unlucky to end up in the morgue in the first chapter. Hehe!
